Violent and abusive actions have no favorites, it will come against its inner circle cause it's done all in the name of "Control." It can be learned behavior or "instinctive" as a self-preservation measure often rooted in "ego, pride, or feelings of threat." I recall my first abusive experience, it came at the age of 16, the first guy I dated. The 2nd long term abusive relationship started at 19 years which was a short lived 11 month marriage. Perpetual abuse throughout the marriage all for the sake of control. Insecurities brought about violence to control the relationship. And so violence becomes a norm in relationships, when we tolerate it as part of relationship building processes. As we get older and grow back bone, the abuse turns into Gaslighting and Narcissism that plays mental manipulation games to control you. As long as you tolerate abuse of any kind, you will attact abuse throughout your life be it at work, home, and in social settings. To STOP violence and ABUSE each person needs to respect themselves enough to set healthy boundaries. If people don't respect you at the boundary that you set, then they should not have close proximity access to you. In that way you are in a safe and healthy freedom zone." Some boundaries worth setting to protect your dignity:1. If they can't respect you in Speech - they not worth your association James 3.10 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.2. A tame tongue is a good start to build relationships. Col 3.8 But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Good values begin with respectful speech.3. We go in the way of our words. Bad language, bad actions. Matthew 15.11 A man is not defiled by what enters his mouth, but by what comes out of it.” There is a correlation between people's speech and actions. So, if people don't respect you in speech, be certain disrespectful actions will follow which in time turns to violence, abuse (physical, emotional, mental, economical). Save yourself and the generations ahead by setting healthy relationship boundaries in all your spheres of influence.
